Aspen Surgical Completes Acquisition of the Transparent Film Dressing Business of Corium International, Inc.
On June 29, 2009, Aspen Surgical Products Holding, Inc. (“Aspen”) completed the acquisition of the transparent film dressing business of Corium International, Inc. (“Corium”). This acquisition expands Aspen's product line and manufacturing capability within the woundcare market. It will also allow Aspen the exclusive rights to Corium’s proprietary technology for the transparent film dressing product.
“With strong market growth in the woundcare segment, we are excited about the ability to further grow our offering of transparent film dressings,” said Terry O’Rourke, President of Aspen Surgical. “This acquisition has provided Aspen with technology that gives us a strategic advantage in the transparent film dressing field in the United States.”
This represents the second acquisition for Aspen in 2009. Previously, Aspen acquired the advanced woundcare and ophthalmic businesses of Unomedical. With these acquisitions, Aspen has strengthened its product portfolio across the woundcare segment to now include a full line of transparent film dressings and wound closure strips, as well as active alginate, foam, hydro gel and honey dressings.
