National Time Out Day – June 17th, 2009

According to the AORN Connections June Newsletter, “On June 17th, AORN and perioperative professionals will take the opportunity to recognize National Time Out Day and remind every member of the surgical team how critical it is to take ‘Time Out’ for patient safety to confirm correct patient, correct procedure, and correct surgical site before every invasive procedure.” This day will help to reiterate and support the importance of the message originally published in 2004 by Joint Commission in the Universal Protocol for Preventing Wrong Site, Wrong Procedure and Wrong Person Surgery.

Aspen Surgical can assist your team in compliance with such protocol by offering you the marking tools to properly identify patients and surgical sites. Within our marking line, we offer a “YES” stamp as well as marking pens in a variety of tip and barrel styles. Markers are sold sterile and non-sterile and include either gentian violet ink or our deep blue “All-Skin” ink to be used on darker skin types. For a listing of our full marking line, please follow the link below to download our Marking Pen Flyer. If you have questions about the marker that will best fit your needs and preferences, please do not hesitate to contact our Product Management Staff at 616-698-7100 X172.
