History & Innovation of Bard-Parker®

Morgan Parker
Morgan Parker, Founding partner of the Bard-Parker® brand.

The Bard-Parker® Brand was founded on the need to create a more efficient tool for the operating room. That’s when Morgan Parker, a 22-year-old engineer, invented the two-part disposable scalpel blade. The patent for the new instrument was filed on April 21, 1914 and permanently revolutionized surgical practice. Parker developed two handles (each a different size) and 8 blades of varying shapes, most of which are still used today.

Bard-Parker is a brand that’s been around for over 100 years and in that 100 years we’ve maintained the same high level of quality that Morgan Parker set the bar for in 1914 from the tried and true conventional blade to our most recent soon to launch Bard-Parker® Plus Blade with Loader. We’re always striving to make the best blade, with the most efficient handling while also emphasizing safety for you, your staff and your patients.
